Lee Jun Ki pulls it well as a beautiful vampire his new sageuk drama.

MBC's new sageuk fusion manhwa based drama Scholar Who Walks the Night premieres its first 2 episodes this week garnering lots of attention from fans and viewers. Lee Jun Ki has done it again so well that he literally fits in a sageuk drama along with his hanbok and 'kkat' (woven black hat) worn by nobleman or scholars in the Joseon dynasty.

After watching the first 2 episodes, it has left me with a very strong impression that I am going to continue watching this drama. Junki's role Kim Sung Yeol was originally a literate scholar who reviews books and comes from a noble family. His childhood sweetheart- Myung Hee played by Kim So Eun is an adopted daughter in the family but he chose to marry her instead causing his mother to look displeased but still gave her consent. Sung Yeol is besties with the Crown Prince Junhhyeon played by Lee Hyun Woo since they were kids. When Junghyeon tells him the truth about a real living evil vampire ruling their kingdom since his father bows to him, Sung Yeol is gobsmacked. All the time he thought Junghyeong was into fantasy novel Gwi in front of the old King. He promised to assist and find out the secret plan to destroy Gwi. However things turned out too late as Gwi managed to destroy the royal family and even Sung Yeol's family including Myung Hee.

Sung Yeol was turned into a half-man half vampire by Gwi's teacher before he died. The
teacher hoped his powers transfered to Sung Yeol will enable him to fight against Gwi and help the weak. He was devastated after becoming a vampire and losing his loved ones. 120 years later Sung Yeol is still alive while buying all books he can around the country. He has one motive that is to find the secret diary of the late Crown Prince Junghyeon. He bumps into the Jo Yang Sun played by Lee Yubi who is cross-dressed as a novel seller. For the first time she is enchanted by Sung Yeol's handsome looks and aura. Here we can see that Sung Yeol has an assistant Su Hyang played by Jang Hee Jin helps him along the way knowing his dark secret.

Yang Sun goes home drooling away with Sung Yeol's looks when Su Hyang tells him off after seeing his sensitive reactions to a stranger. He tells her he's that type of person who can easily bites into people's neck and drinks blood. Su Hyang in return told him of all the men she's seen, so far Sung Yeol is the greatest. Mysteriously Sung Yeol discovers that Yang Sun is actually a woman in disguise. He forms a strange relationship with Yang Sun, giving her a mission- to find the Forbidden Quest. After been attacked by Gwi and saved by Sung Yeol, Yang Sun is curious to know his real identity. She gets interested to know more about him and her emotions have been shown all over the face.

I hope there's more butt kicking in the following weeks to come... can't wait!
Well we can expect lots of action scenes since Junki has a black belt in taekwondo and taekkyeon. Let's tune to watch more interesting episodes next week... 밤선비 crew- 화이띵!!!
