Visual/Face of a Boyband or Group

In the 80s, boygroups such as New Kids on the Block, Boyzone, Take That, NSync, 98 Degrees and Blue were the taking on the music charts with their music and chereography. Then Backstreet Boys came in the picture and took the world by storm. As for now I reckon One Direction is one of the popular UK singing group. If you look carefully in boybands, there is either one or two members standing out as the visual or should you say the 'face' or image of the group. Of course there are lead vocals, rappers, dancers but the image of the group is very important.

In Asia, boybands or girl groups are very popular among teenagers and even to matured audiences. Groups such as JYJ, TVXQ, Super Junior, EXO, Girls Generation, 2NE1, Big Bang, 2PM and SHInee play an important role in promoting K-pop, dramas and variety programs through TV station or online. This is what we called 'Hallyu wave'.
Personally I find some of the visual or face of the groups are rather interesting. Some are pretty good looking and talented where else some are not. Here are my ranking for some of the groups that make it into my top list so far... 

1. Choi Siwon (Super Junior)
Siwon is not only born with good looks, he is very competitive, tall and has good acting skills too. He is from quite a well off family and he is usually the main image for Super Junior boyband. Siwon is quite music talented as he knows how to play the drums.







2. Im Siwan (ZE:A)
Looking at the past background of Siwan, he is quite an intelligent boy who has studied previously in Busan National University in some engineering course. He knows how to play the violin well and his looks are great. The only disadvantage of Siwan is being a bit short.
Nevertheless his acting skills and looks win it all.

3. Choi Sooyoung (Girls Generation)
The tallest member in the group and slim figure is something that I wish I could have. Sooyoung posseses the beauty, height and her acting skills were improving too. Most people find YoonA being the mascot of the group but I think Sooyoung is the prettiest when it comes to the 9 girls. 







3. Sandara Park (2NE1) 

Sandara has always been the image of the 2NE1, the pretty one. Brought in Phillipines, she could speak good English and her exotic looks are unique compared to any Korean girl.
She hasn't been on any major dramas or films, no comments. She is quite a brave girl to challenge various hairstyles when it comes to performing on stage!

4. Kim Jaejoong (JYJ)
Jaejoong carries the pretty boy look from his debut days in TVXQ and has changed to a tougher manlier image in JYJ group. He fits well in any colour hairstyles and his raspy voice when it comes to singing is truly divine! I give credits to Jaejoong for being the best looking in the group and he has proved that he could act after winning some drama awards. Good on him! 






5. Kim Myungsoo@ L (Infinite) 

L has always been the face of Infinite group. Whichever angle you look at him, L has always looked good. His sharp features stand out with his bright smile and doey eyes. From small roles to 2nd lead in dramas, L has proved that he could act and captured the audience.
Witty as he is and he isn't afraid to say what's in his mind during interviews or on TV.

6. Choi Minho (SHinee)
Minho is the sporty competitive member in Dream Team program, tallest in his group, has acted in various dramas and his big eyes are the ones that stand out. He is quite funny at times and surely he fits well as the visual of the group.

7. Lee Kikwang (Beast)
Many might think Yoseob or Dojoon are the faces of this group but I find Kikwang to be the adorable one. He has been in a few dramas such as My Princess along with Kim Tae Hee. He is active in football and joined the FC Club in support with JYJ Junsu. He has a smiley face and one of the lead vocals in the group.







7. Jang Eunji (APink) 

APink group is quite a bubbly cute girl group, despite Eunji is not the mascot - she has the strongest vocal. Her smile is addictive and she is a good actress after playing so well in Reply 1997 with her Busan ascent. Eunji has good humour and she has proven to be one of the good rising idol. 

8. Nickhun (2PM)
The Thai boy from this group...he speaks well in English, Thai and Korean. His popularity skyrocketed when he acted in the virtual We Got Married program with fX leader, Victoria.
Then news broke out when he is dating Girl's Generation member, Tiffany. 
Khunnie's features and height are no joke...he definitely has the look for his group.




9. Do Kyungsoo @ D.O (EXO-K) 

D.O has one of the most powerful voice in the group since he is one of the lead vocals. He has done well in acting such as the film 'Cart' with veteran actresses and recently as Jo In Sung's younger version in the drama It's Okay to Love. His dreamy eyes and daze look is adorable. However been slightly shorter is one of his flaw. Apart from that, he is cute.

(pst! The 2 good looking blokes from Jo In Sung to D.O which is one of the reason I watched the entire drama! LOL!)

10. Jung Yonghwa (CN Blue)
Yonghwa is always known as the gentle guitarist Shinwoo in the drama You're Beautiful alongside actress Park Shin Hye. His looks took the audience attention and his acting skills have improved after doing a few dramas. Being the leader of CN Blues, Yonghwa never fails to impress in variety programs. He has been a popular guest in Running Man program.

I personally think his role as Park Dal Hyang in tVN's Three Musketeers is impressive.
