The truth behind Crown Prince Sado's death (비밀의 문...)

SBS network will be starting its new Sageuk drama titled Secret's Door (비밀의 문) with big stars such as veteran actor Han Suk Kyu, Lee Je Hoon, Park Eun Bin, Kim Min Jong, Kim Yoo Jung, Choi Won Young and Kim Chang Won. The story will unfold the mystery of Crown Prince Sado's death and why his father King Yeongjo decided to condemn his own son's death. Sounds interesting? Yes it is... why?

I've been to Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and it was build by Sado's son, King Jeongjo to remember his late father. This is history and we never know what happened to the poor Crown Prince.

In history it was written- Crown Prince Sado the 2nd son of King Yeongjo of Joseon, as well as being born the royal heir as a result of the early and youthful death of his older brother, Prince Hyojang, in 1728. However Sado was not given an opportunity to reign and was executed by starvation locked up in a large wooden rice chest for 8 days. How cruel is that! Records mentioned that Sado suffered from mental illness but he was been framed. Until today his death remains a super mystery and as an issue of debate- whether  retribution for his actual misconduct or was it a conspiracy by his political opponents.

Han Suk Kyu plays King Jeongjo where he's famous for playing royal roles..if you do remember he was King Sejong in Tree with Deep Roots. There's Lee Je Hoon as Crown Prince Sado - he's popular from the movie Architecture 101, the pretty Kim Yoo Jung from Moon Embraces the Sun drama plays a fictional character a Seo Ji Dam, Park Eun Bin as Lady Hyegyeong who is Sado's Crown Princess, Choi Won Young as the faithful advisor Choi Je Gong, Kim Min Jong as the fictional character Na Chul Ju and Kim Chang Won as Kim Taek. The promotional poster itself is rather impressive, I'd say. *Smiles* I do fancy historical dramas but it must not be too darn long and draggy.

I must say the hanboks for costume period dramas are a must to see. The binnyeo, shoes, jeogori, dang-ui and everything on the royal court women are beautiful. For those who have seen the drama 'Jang Ok-Jung'...the hanboks are pretty with its embroidery showing different status of the women. And of course the story behind this is something to watch.
I've learned a lot after watching Tree with Deep Roots drama. It was meaningful to realize how King Sejong sacrificed so much for his citizens in order to create the Hangul language for what Korea has right now. There is no wonder his big statue stands right in middle of Gwanghwamun square in Seoul and his face is imprinted on the dollar note.

The premiere starts on this end week of Sept- first episode is grippling with suspense and mystery. King Jeongjo signed some treaty threatened by the evil elder Kim Taek. Crown Prince Lee Sun goes around happily searching for Saechaek (hidden civilians library) with his buddy Haeng Bok. First apperance of Lady Hyegyeong who is annoyed with the Crown Prince's antics and plans to sustain her power & hubby's throne for she is worried for the current King's pregnant concubine, Lady Moon.
